SPS Citadel Access Protection
With crew safety paramount in the minds of owners and operators, citadel protection offers a tried and tested security concept to safeguard personnel in case of a pirate attack. Sandwich Plate System (SPS) is the ideal means to reinforce ship citadels and deter a sustained attack by the most determined hijacker trying to gain access. SPS Citadel Access Protection delivers:

PirateFence™
As sea crime continues to be a major concern for the global shipping industry, operators are seeking more effective methods to thwart the threat of an attack at sea. PirateFence™, developed by Mobile Defense Systems, LLC, adapts principles formerly used in land based perimeter security systems to develop a resilient barricade that addresses the problems inherent with current razor wire defenses and which meets - and exceeds - the demands of security on the high seas.

Razor Ribbon®
PirateFence™ is manufactured from Razor Ribbon®- a vastly superior evolution of the traditional razor wire design- composed of high-grade stainless steel with sharp, razor blade-like edges. Originally intended for high security applications, such as maximum-security prisons in the US and military bases around the world, its multiple blades are designed to inflict serious injury on anyone attempting a breach.
Modular-Based System
Current Razor-Wire barriers are erected by continuously stringing wire from one attachment point to another. If done correctly, the wire forms a protective coil preventing passage. However, in practice these types of defenses prove to be extremely vulnerable and weak during a boarding attempt. When a grapple hook attaches, the entire barrier can be pulled down, creating a perimeter break that can measure tens-of-meters in length. Designed as modular system, PirateFence™ was designed to prevent this type of attack. In the highly unlikely event a segment was dislodged the breach would measure just 1.5 meters.
Grapple Resistant & Anti-Climb
PirateFence™ features a specially designed Razor Ribbon® coil designed to de-tangle in the event of a grapple attack. The chassis features anti-scaling slats which prevent any attempt at climbing with or without the use of a grapple hook.
Durable
PirateFence™ has been designed with a -galvanised steel chassis, and its Razor Ribbon® coil features a galvanised core that resists cutting. Each individual component of the PirateFence™ system has been independently product-tested to withstand salt-water/salt-air environments for more than ten years.
Visual Deterrent
PirateFence™ aims to further aid in the hardening of vessels by serving as a large format warning sign which can display either pre-designed or bespoke graphics warnings that can serve as a visual deterrent for attackers who -may otherwise find the vessel as an "easy target". PirateFence™ can also be used to display company branding.
Safe and Easy to Use
Crew injuries during vessel hardening are practically eliminated with PirateFence™. When each module is stowed, the fence rolls into a cylinder surrounding the coils—eliminating the danger of injury to the crew. This “Roll and Stow” design allows the unit to be deployed quickly and easily when vessels need to prepare for HRA transits. After disembarking, the crew can simply remove the units from the ship’s railings.
Vessel Layered Defense
PirateFence™ is easily integrated with other anti-piracy defensive measures and is most effective when implemented as part of a vessel layered defense system.
