Height Restricted Areas for Southern Connection of Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Link

The Shipping and Port Control (Amendment) Regulation 2017 and the Merchant Shipping (Local Vessels) (General) (Amendment) Regulation 2017 came into operation on 1 December 2017.

The Regulations establish three groups of vessel height restricted areas namely Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Link (“TM-CLKL”) Areas No.1, No.2 and No.3 for the Southern Connection of TM-CLKL, and provide that except with the permission of the Director of Marine, no vessel exceeding 21, 12 and 6 metres in height above sea level shall enter or pass through the TM-CLKL Areas No.1, No.2 and No.3 respectively.

Details of the restricted areas and the corresponding restriction are as follows:

(1) TM-CLKLArea No. 1
No vessel which has a height exceeding 21 metres above sea level shall enter or pass through the TM-CLKL Area No. 1, which is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
(i) 22 deg. 18.625’N / 113 deg. 57.607’E  Position (B)
(ii) 22 deg. 18.592’N / 113 deg. 57.660’E  Position (C)
(iii) 22 deg. 18.513’N / 113 deg. 57.578’E  Position (I)
(iv) 22 deg. 18.546’N / 113 deg. 57.523’E  Position (H)
(v) 22 deg. 18.625’N / 113 deg. 57.607’E  Position (B)

(2) TM-CLKLArea No. 2
No vessel which has a height exceeding 12 metres above sea level shall enter or pass through the TM-CLKL Area No. 2, which includes two areas respectively bounded by:

(a) the shore and straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
(i) 22 deg. 18.670’N / 113 deg. 57.555’E  Position (A)
(ii) 22 deg. 18.625’N / 113 deg. 57.607’E  Position (B)
(iii) 22 deg. 18.546’N / 113 deg. 57.523’E  Position (H)
(iv) 22 deg. 18.638’N / 113° 57.370’E  Position (G)

(b) straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
(i) 22 deg. 18.592’N / 113 deg. 57.660’E  Position (C)
(ii) 22 deg. 18.468’N / 113 deg. 57.871’E  Position (D)
(iii) 22 deg. 18.377’N / 113 deg. 57.808’E  Position (J)
(iv) 22 deg. 18.513’N / 113 deg. 57.578’E  Position (I)
(v) 22 deg. 18.592’N / 113 deg. 57.660’E  Position (C)

(3) TM-CLKLArea No. 3
No vessel which has a height exceeding 6 metres above sea level shall enter or pass through the TM-CLKL Area No. 3, which is bounded by the shore and straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
(i) 22 deg. 17.995’N / 113 deg. 58.147’E  Position (L)
(ii) 22 deg. 18.172’N / 113 deg. 58.151’E  Position (K)
(iii) 22 deg. 18.377’N / 113 deg. 57.808’E  Position (J)
(iv) 22 deg. 18.468’N / 113 deg. 57.871’E  Position (D)
(v) 22 deg. 18.263’N / 113 deg. 58.215’E  Position (E)
(vi) 22 deg. 18.132’N / 113 deg. 58.466’E  Position (F)

Owners, Operators, Masters, Coxswains and Persons-in-charge of vessels must ensure that the highest point of their vessels does not exceed the specified limit when entering or passing through a vessel height restricted area.
