Reducing coal vessel turnaround times

13 Mar 2023 / Krishnapatnam, India

Adani Ports and Logistics has issued instructions for coal vessels at Krishnapatnam Port, in a bid to improve turnaround times.

The following instruction are given for inward vessels, from 14 March onwards:

  1. Ensure that the time taken from gangway down to cargo commencement is just 1 hour.
  2. PHO/Customs formalities can be clubbed or overlapped along with draught survey time.
  3. All agents to focus on commencing cargo discharge immediately after boarding the vessel with waiting for draught survey figures.
  4. All agents to inform vessels to be ready in all aspects to commence cargo discharge ASAP after boarding of agent/surveyors.

Coal cargo vessels accommodated at N6, N7 and N8 should be ready for cargo discharge operations within one hour from the time of gangway down, and be ready for sailing within one hour from the time of cargo completion. Failing to do so will result in layup berth hire charges being applicable.
