Basrah Oil Terminal (formerly called Mina Al-Bakr) is an offshore terminal located about 50 kilometers South East of the Iraqi town of Faw. There are four berths and three SPMs at Basrah Oil Terminal (BOT), all of which are operational. Two vessels on berth and two vessels at SPM can be loaded simultaneously.
Pilotage is compulsory for all inward and outward tankers. Pilots are available 24/7 at the terminal. Pilot boards and leaves at buoy no. 14. The maximum sailing draft should not exceed 21 meters.
Since August 2003, GAC has been providing charterers and owners Protective Agency Services at BOT. We are presently attending and servicing a number of well-reputed tanker operators and oil majors. Agents are not allowed to board vessels at BOT due to terminal restrictions.
